What are two versions of Lines?
Can I play Lines locally?
Why I do not see 'Enlarge' button?
I can't connect to Lines (server down?)
I can't save (view) best scores
I think I found a bug in Lines. What should I do ?
There are 2 versions of Lines game that differ in the place they store your scores. First is "public" - it saves scores to common database. So you compete agains the world. Other is "local" - score is stored in your cookies, you compete agains yourself (or other gamers at your computer).
Currently "public" database is unoperational, only "personal" version works.
Yes, you can download and play Lines locally (off-line). For instructions, look here. Note that if you play "global" version, you should connect to the Internet to save/read scores.
IE users may enjoy 'Enlarge' button that increases size of applet. It was tested with IE 5.0. It may also work with IE 4 or Netscape 5, but is not tested. It is not available for users of Netscape 4.x.
Choose a mirror you have a reliable link to.
Scores are saved as PHYSICON Ltd independent of whatever mirror you use. If link to this site is down, scores are not available, sorry.
Lines, like any software (except TeX) may have bugs. Still, most bugs are probably caused by old browsers. At least Netscape 4.08 or IE 4 SP1 recommended. If new version of browser does not help, write me to entin@bigfoot.com, add [Lines bug] in subject. (I am currently testing Lines with Netscape 4.61 and IE 5 on Windows 2000.)
